With the deadline for the Augmented Reality Prototype assignment being on the Monday of the coming week, this week was dedicated to working on this mini-project. We used Lens Studio to create our own filter prototype. This assignment was dedicated to us learning the basics of AR, giving us the chance to test out our current skills and add new ones to the list.

Having limited experience with something like this, starting the assignment was a bit of a struggle, especially with an idea block as well. Luckily after looking through the available templates, I could try out, the thought finally came to make a face filter of one of my favourite characters, Steve from Bigtop Burger.

By using his ref sheet as a point of reference and inspiration, I started building the filter layer by layer. The different unique features of his design provided me with the opportunity to try out a wide variety of different templates. I am pleased with the final product and am satisfied with the enjoyment I found out of this assignment. We also had to write a reflection on this prototype, and from this process, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses in this area of design.

Moving forward, I am aiming to further develop my skills and ideas and contribute what I’ve learned from this filter-making process in the big group project.
