I am taking Design 241: Designing Mixed Realities for semester two this year! As a conjoint student majoring in design and screen production, this paper is exciting and valuable because it will help expand my horizons. I believe that AR and VR are the future of film as a medium, so I hope to use the newly acquired skills and knowledge to help me innovate the future possibilities.
My goal for this course is to create something versatile and practical while further harnessing my teamwork and creative skills. I am looking forward to creating an AR for Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki or Auckland War Memorial Museum as a group project. Compared to my previous group work experiences, this is a much larger group with many new faces this time. It is currently out of my zone, but I am looking forward to learning from this new experience. With our versatile set of skills and passions, I am confident that we will create something fun and unique.

Before the group assignment, we have to create an AR product first individually. An example of AR which I will most likely make is a Snapchat filter. The workshop for Lens Studio was beneficial as it helped simplify the learning curve for me. It was interesting learning the step by step process behind creating filters, which makes me look forward to the rest of this course. I am excited to explore Lens Studio more and see what more I can make out of it!
